Satisfy

Isn't this the one quest: satisfaction? I had meetings this morning that stressed the importance of planning now so that you will have plenty in the future - be satisfied, I suppose, in retirement. I've talked with couples looking to marry, who believe in marriage they will be satisfied [that is possible, but it takes work and planning - like retirement I suppose]. Google gave me 341,000,000 pages in 0.13 seconds talking about satisfaction. Surely I don't have to read them all to be satisfied or find the way to satisfaction. Right?

This morning I read through a Psalm. It screamed: satisfaction is in God alone. Money won't buy it, jobs won't secure, victory won't keep it [a lesson I learned in 2005-06 with the formerly championship Red Sox and Patriots]. With God, will I always feel it? Was Jesus satisfied when he said "it is finished"? That is not a pretty picture of satisfaction to think about enduring, but a beautiful one to behold. How can I be satisfied in life: a husband, a father, a minister, a friend, a hard worker [okay, maybe in my own eyes - but look, I figured out enough html to make things bold]?

That's the voyage I'm taking and the answer I seek: Lord, satisfy me.
